“Amerikana”
„Amerikana" was created in January 2007 as a hybrid of
			a paper
sketch (11-20-2006), while attending a lecture of Guido
			Goldman and
with "Painter" (Metacreations) and Photoshop (Adobe)
Print: Piezo-Print on Somerset Velvet Size: Paper: 76x56 cm, Picture: 66x47 cm Copies: 10, numbered and signed, and 2 artist's copies (I-II) Price: 600.‒ Euros Artist: Björn Dämpfling
The lecture was about American domestic politics and that explains
the title and nothing else. The paper drawing was scanned, inverted
and painted over, mainly with digital chalk and watercolors. Usually
I try to work out all the details of a sketch, perfecting them
through enhancing precision, but this time it was all about the
painterly dynamic, as far as it can be pushed, without losing the
graphic component. On this idea the balance of the whole rests; that
is, firstly between real “over painting,” second the “coloring” of
lines and thirdly leaving parts of the inverted graphics untouched,
			i.e. leaving them white.
