The title actually reflects upon “the Erich”, because after I had
drawn this outlandish creature I instantly started thinking of absurd
figures, and the most intense feeling of absurdity was generated by
thinking of the former GDR’s Erich Honecker. Any attempt to make this
plausible is doomed to fail. It was just a wacky thought. The image
actually got its final form only after I changed it a couple of years
later, then becoming completely satisfied in aesthetic terms, as I
filled the formerly plain grey background with tiny dots of dominant
colors used for the figure itself. This embedding looks like a whiff
of crazy confetti mist, is, as I see it, essential for the visual
quality of the image.
