In technical terms “Seeing” is a complete over painting of the
underlying photo, pure handwork at the PC, with the exception of the
pair of glasses and the eye part. It is obvious that the part with
the spectacles and the eye have been reworked too with a slight blue
grayish coloring and a modified viewing direction. I wanted to turn
her view towards her inner self in order to accomplish something
similar to “Man Made”, though with quite different means: I wanted to
preserve the personality, the presence of someone surpassing every
standard ideal of beauty with a very self-confident look, giving a
wonderful smile. Transforming this portrait in a radical
transposition that keeps the power of her smile was the goal. Making
her kind of a being from outer space combined with an introspective
smile showing the greatest self-certainty adds up to the same
attitude and personality, though in utter disassociation of the
original. These reflections are as always in hindsight, interpreting
my seemingly targeted, but in fact completely unplanned acting.
