As with the “Gatlings” a line sketch on paper exists and one of my
own photos was manipulated and used as background, but the digital
part of the work ( >95%) dominates everything. In this image, an
aspect of my work comes to the fore that is quite often overlooked,
because bemoaning the world’s state doesn’t define my state of mind.
My works are therefore seen as joyful, and rightfully so, but at the
same time, amidst happy and colorful imagery, one finds often
elements of aggression, of pain, of injury and bleeding. This image
is special because it is based as a whole on the explicit
contradiction between joyous colors and playfulness on one side, and
unfettered aggressiveness on the other. In addition the image carries
a high degree of homogeneity, based on intertwining “drawn” and
“painted” structures of all sorts, produced with a huge variation of
tools and the overall use of subtle colors, all in all in stark
contrast with the martial appearance of the figure, which has no
G “ironic” touch to it. In March 2011 "The Toy General" won first place at
"Brooklyn Bridge Contest" of MOCA (Museum of Computer Art ) New York.
